Advantages of photovoltaic generation in University Technology Park
Main Article Content
Abstract
The study proposes the construction of a technology park at the University of Cienfuegos, where a student residence building will be transformed into an administrative building. A photovoltaic solar system will be used to supply electricity installed on the roof of the building. The roof has a usable area of 260 m2 with capacity for 112 panels of type DSM 270, with an installed power of 32.4 kWp and an electricity generation capacity of 118.66 kWh per day. The economic evaluation has a long Investment Recovery Period (IRP), close to 15 years out of a useful life of 25 years, and a low Net Present Value (NPV) given that Resolution No. 435/2017 establishes the cost of the KWh, sold by SEN, four times the price it pays to the agencies in the purchase. The economic benefits due to CO2 emissions reduction were not considered in the evaluation. The resistance of the building to the loads caused by the system on the roof was tested. Loads of the order of 168 kg/m2 were created, lower than the 300 kg/m2 allowed by the design. This allows us to affirm that it is possible to assemble the photovoltaic park.
