Introduction of the subject environmental education in the training of the technical career civil construction
Main Article Content
Abstract
In Cuba, the construction sector is considered one of the main sources of environmental pollution, both directly and indirectly. Ensuring the preservation of the environment, through the rational use of resources and the mitigation of negative environmental impacts, is a challenge for the country's professionals. It is therefore essential to prepare them to carry out their work in line with the objective of achieving sustainable development. For this reason, the incorporation of the subject Environmental Education in the complementary training curriculum for professionals in the Civil Construction technical career was proposed. The programme for this course was designed in a research project based on the following methods: historical-logical, hypothetical-deductive, structural-functional systemic, modelling, documentary analysis, interviews with teachers, methodologists and students. Its inclusion in the curriculum of future specialists will contribute to their comprehensive training, enabling them to participate in more sustainable and efficient construction projects, its service will provide companies with a competitive advantage in an increasingly demanding market in environmental terms and will contribute to the formation of citizens who are more aware, committed and respectful of environmental care.
